STEM International Virtual School
STEM International Virtual School is a Christ Centered, 21st Century and STEM skills school founded for children in Africa . The visionary and proprietor is Lucy Nyawira Mwai, sought to train global STEM professionals and Leaders with a spirit of excellence by equipping them with the necessary skills needed to excel in the 21st Century.
Ms. Mwai’s training and experience in the United States for over 20years, combined with her Kenyan origin led her to establish a Christ centered, 21st century and STEM skills, Leadership Curriculum Home school that became the first of its kind in Kenya and now Africa. STEM International School is an innovation in itself, solving the problem of training students in Africa to think vs what to think. As a result, the school has attracted and currently hosts students with natural descent from 16 countries from around the world as it steadily grows.
In 2020-2021 academic year STEM International Virtual School has students attending from 3 African nations namely Kenya, Zambia and Rwanda. It is our desire to have student presence in all the countries of Africa; influencing innovation minded students for Africa and the world at large.
STEM International uses a K12 Curriculum, with a strong emphasis on 21st century and STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) skills from Preschool – 12th grade.
Students at STEM International School enjoy the benefit of being in a small class setting. We facilitate a Christian environment that allows the children to grow in wisdom, stature and in favor with both God and Man.
Students are introduced to new levels of learning in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, STEM Connections, Creative Arts, Engineering, Technology, Physical Education and Community Service.
Parents at STEM enjoy parenting because their children are happy and empowered.
The vision and physical realization of the STEM international Virtual home school is a result of understanding that STEM education is an economic imperative and that if students cannot learn the way we teach, then we must teach the way they learn. We realized that for Africa to benefit, we must reach them virtually in the 21st century. Welcome!
At STEM International; Science Technology Engineering and Math is enjoyed equally by the girl and boy child.
STEM literacy is critical because it has a profound and growing impact on our day-to-day lives. It helps us make critical decisions about all areas of our lives. It’s more important than ever for our youth to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to solve tough problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and make sense of information. These are the types of skills that students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math—subjects collectively known as STEM.
STEM International classes comprise of not more than 20 virtual students per class with are group like arrangement that ensures all students get maximum support from the teachers.
Students at STEM International learn that even problems in dance, entertainment, sports, business and the arts must be solved through knowledge and application of 21st century skills and STEM literacy just as in any other areas like aviation and space discovery. Students at STEM from K3 learn to apply the Engineering Design Process to become innovative problem solvers.
The fundamental purpose of STEM International is teaching the child how to think instead of what to think.
